The Venus Transit

Image

They occur in a pattern that repeats every 243 years, with pairs of transits eight years apart separated by long gaps of 121.5 years and 105.5 years. So the next transits of Venus will be in December 2117 and December 2125.

Today has been a life changing day. For all who watched it take place we will never see it again and this was a truly once in a lifetime event.

“A transit of Venus across the Sun takes place when the planetVenus passes directly between the Sun and Earth, becoming visible against (and hence obscuring a small portion of) the solar disk. During a transit, Venus can be seen from Earth as a small black disk moving across the face of the Sun. The duration of such transits is usually measured in hours (the transit of 2004 lasted six hours) ”

Tumblr and Pinterest

Recently there have been Two social medias that I have been really involved in investigating them and learning as much as I can about them.

1.

My Tumblr blog

I really like how engaged other tumblrs get into rebloging and sharing all the great stuff that is on tumblr.

You can find some great niches on Tumblr of other people who tumble the  same kind of stuff that you tumble. When you Post a really cute kitty picture, more times then not, the people who reblog your photo also like really cute kitty pictures, and so on and so forth.

2.

My Pinterest Profile

The idea of Pinterest “sharing photos” is not a new idea, but the way you are able to share the photos, is what I think makes Pinterest so great.

Pinterest cuts out the big popularity contest on social medias  so you don’t have to be a well known  person/brand or a social media expert, to have your content seen. Pinterest is made so the photos you share can be seen and shared.

Klout.com

What is Klout?

Klout measures influence online using data from your social networks. Anywhere you have an online presence, you have the opportunity to influence people by creating or sharing content that inspires actions such as likes, retweets, comments and more. The more engagement your posts receive, the more influential you are. Klout uses this information to provide you aKlout Score that measures your overall influence.

Here is a list of things that you do on your Social Medias that give you Klout.

  • Twitter: Retweets and Mentions
  • Facebook: Comments, Wall-Posts, Likes
  • LinkedIn: Comments, Likes
  • Foursquare: Tips, To-Do’s, Done
  • Google+: Comments, Reshares, +1

—————————————-

I use Klout and have found it really useful.

Here is a link to my profile.

You can link a all your social media accounts together on Klout.

At this point Klout only draws data from your Twitter, Facebook, and Google + accounts (if you have them connected to your Klout). You can still all of your other accounts, by doing so an icon will be on your Klout profile to go to your LinkedIn, ext.

Right now you can connect

  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • Google +
  • LinkedIn
  • Foursquare
  • YouTube
  • Instagram
  • Tumblr
  • Blogger
  • WordPress.com
  • Last.fm
  • Flickr

More are coming.

Twitter Blackbird Pie

This plugin works for WordPress.org blogs.

I have tested this plugin out and it worked wonderfully for me.

With this plugin you can create what is called “Pies”. As said above “embedded HTML representations of actual tweets in your blog posts”

This plugin also has a TinyMCE editor button to easily search and embed a tweet  like this
