Color encyclopedia : Information and conversion.

ColorHexa.com is a free color tool providing information about any color. Just type any color values (view full list here) in the search field and ColorHexa will offer a detailed description and automatically convert it to its equivalent value in Hexadecimal, Binary, RGB, CMYK, HSL, HSV, CIE-Lab, Hunter-Lab, CIE-Luv, CIE-LCH, XYZ and xyY. ColorHexa will also generate matching color schemes such as complementary, split complementary, analogous, triadic, tetradic and monochromatic colors.

One thing that I really like about this site is that what ever color you search there is an “in action” section that gives you snippets of code for HTML and CSS For uses of the color you searched.

Innovative Designs

Two designs that inspired me and made me ask myself  “What am I doing to help and empower other people?” I hope they do the same for you.

Element S Coat by Veronika Scott

Photo by Scott by Ruby Troyano

“Veronika Scott is one maker who has put her time and energy into making a difference in the community. Veronika spearheaded The Empowerment Plan, a Detroit-based humanitarian project which centers around the Element S Coat, a self-heated, waterproof garment that transforms into a sleeping bag at night. The coat is made by a group of homeless women who have been paid to learn and to produce the coats for those living on the streets. Veronika is one of the hundreds of makers who will be presenting at Maker Faire Detroit, taking place next weekend, July 30 and 31, at The Henry Ford in Dearborn.”

Letter to the geeks.

Dear Geeks,

We have changed a movement.

Let me expound on the above statement.

At one point, not too long ago, you were not cool if you were a geek and you could never be cool.

Then there were the true geeks, who did not conform, they stood up strong and started something great.

Now we, the geeks, are changing the meaning and stigma of what the word Geek means. We are telling the world who we are and what being a Geek really is.

We are smart, creative, innovative. We hack, make, create, fix, debug, change, we move the world forward.

You are not a geek because you watch Star Trek or because you like to write code. You are a geek because of who you are, not because someone gave you the title.

From one geek to another,

Keep on doing great things, move the world forward.

Be proud of who you are.
Go Geeks.
